Where is Sumatra?
Sumatra is an island in western Indonesia with two primary growing regions: Mandheling and Lintong. While some Sumatran coffee comes from large plantations, most is grown on remote, village farms at altitudes of 2,500 to 5,000 feet.
What makes beans from Sumatra unique?
Coffee from Sumatra is known for its almost syrupy richness. No other beans in the world have such powerful, mouth-filling body. Sumatran coffee has low-acidity and displays dark, warm and golden tones. Chocolate, caramel and earthy flavors keep fans sampling bean after bean.
Suggested ways to enjoy these beans
Pair your Sumatran coffee with dense chocolate or aged full flavor cheeses to bring out the earthy and smoky overtones. The concentrated flavors and round body also make it a fine alternative to the after dinner drink!
